Our Story
TeamShuffle was born on a 5-a-side pitch in Lagos, Nigeria. Every Sunday, the same fifteen minutes would disappear — not because of anything on the pitch, but because of what happened before kick-off. The same two captains would pick the same set of friends, the strongest players would cluster onto one side, and what should have been a competitive game would dissolve into a lopsided 8–1 that nobody enjoyed.
The frustration was universal. It wasn't just Lagos. Across football pitches, basketball courts, corporate away-days, and classroom activities around the world, team selection is consistently one of the most contentious, time-wasting, and politically charged moments in any group activity. Friendships are tested. Accusations of bias fly. People feel singled out or unfairly placed. And paid pitch time — which costs real money — evaporates before a single ball is kicked.
In 2024, Tieko Media Limited, a software company based in Lagos, Nigeria, set out to fix this. The solution had to be simple enough to use pitch-side on a wet Thursday evening with cold fingers and a bad 4G signal, yet powerful enough to generate a provably fair result that nobody could argue with. TeamShuffle was the result.
